| Popis: | Abstract: How much did folk costumes of Slovakia influence the urban clothing in the 2nd half of the 19th and the 1st half of the 20th century? How is the interest in folk costumes of the Slovak population related to the national movement? Period photographs and prints, works of art and archival documents make it possible to study the emergence of national clothing. It culminated in the adoption of the Memorandum of the Slovak nation in 1861 in Martin. For women it was representative national clothíng, for men- clothíng of manifesting character. The 'Živena ', the Association of Slovak women, and the solo exhibition of Slovak embroidery played an important role in it. In urban environment, Slovak national costume of nation-representational character spread. Magazines 'Dennica' and 'Živena 'played an important role in it; they influenced and nurtured the spread of embroidery at embroidered men shirts, apparel for women and children. After the Czechoslovak Republic was established, authentic folk costumes were worn spontaneously in Slovak urban environment. |
